The pharmaceutical industry, otherwise known as Big Pharma, has people convinced that without drugs it is almost impossible to live a healthy lifestyle. Furthermore, any ailment not only has a drug, but needs a drug – everything from the common cold to quitting smoking. Of course, this works well for them as drugs mean more profit for them, and when people take drugs their immune system does less and therefore becomes less efficient, meaning they are more likely to become ill more often and in turn take more drugs. It’s a vicious circle.
However, there are many problems with taking prescription drugs to overcome – or prevent – an illness, and this article will be looking at the problems with taking a cocktail of drugs, and why flu shots are a waste of time. Before going any further, I want to explain why this information is being included in my newsletter. The simple reason is that the anti-smoking movement is largely funded and backed up Big Pharma, in an attempt to get smokers to purchase smoking cessation products. Part of my quest with this newsletter is to expose the lies of Big Pharma so people can get an understanding of how deep the anti-smoking corruption really goes.
According to the World Center for EFT, taking drug cocktails can be seriously catastrophic. Whilst even the most pro-tablets advocate would probably admit taking cocktails is not a good idea and can have problems, there have been a surprisingly low number of studies conducted to determine the effects of mixing certain drugs. They report that taking 3 drugs requires seven separate tests to determine the safety, 4 drugs requires 25 tests, 5 drugs needs 121 tests, and ten drugs amounts to 362,881 separate tests. As such, taking a combination of tablets has the potential to wreak havoc in ways that we do not yet know – and yet, there is no warning on the box telling us not to ingest multiple tablets, nor do our doctors tell us not to. In fact, the contrary is true, with doctors often willingly putting their patients on multiple tablets and effectively playing roulette with the life and wellbeing of their patients.
Between 1997 and 2007 the number of prescriptions increased by 72%, with 3.8 billion prescriptions being administered last year alone, with the New York Times reporting an average of almost 13 prescriptions by each and every person – a figure that gets scarier when you take into account that many people do not take prescription tablets. What’s worse is that the elderly are the most likely to suffer – the average person over 65 fills an average of 29 prescriptions annually, and yet these are people who are more likely to have weakened immune systems from their age anyway.
The term for this is ‘polypharmacy’, and Dr Michael Stern, a specialist in geriatric emergency medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, told the NY Times:
“Polypharmacy is responsible for up to 28 percent of hospital admissions and, if it were classified as such, it would be the fifth leading cause of death in the United States.”
There are some examples of the problems multiple drugs can do: mixing prescription painkillers with Ibuprofen can cause bleeding ulcers; combining certain cholesterol-lowering drugs with erythromycin, an antibiotic, can lead to a toxc reaction which potentially could lead to kidney failure; mixing aspirin with headache tablets can increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke.
The October 22nd edition of the Seattle Times ran an article on pharmaceutical drugs, and stated that in the first 3 months of 2008 there was a record number of serious problems, including deaths, linked to medications and the FDA received nearly 21,000 reports of serious drug reactions – including almost 5,000 deaths in that period. Apparently there were two drugs that took a disproportionately large share of the problems: Heparin, a tainted blood thinner from China, and Chantix, an anti-smoking drug. Anti-smoking drugs have been no end of trouble, and Chantix had more reports than any other medication – the FDA reported earlier this year that it may be linked to psychiatric problems, including suicidal behaviour.
The article also mentioned that serious drug reactions – ones that cause hospitalisation, require medical intervention or place a life in jeopardy – was at 20,745 cases in those 3 months, 38% higher than the average for the previous four calendar quarters, with fatalities accounting for 23% of the cases.
The real point here is that nowhere is the pharmaceutical industry informing us of this, neither are doctors. They very much should be telling us about this, because they are working in the medical profession under the guise of helping us live long, healthy lives – therefore making it their duty to tell us all we need to know. The fact that they are not doing that should make alarm bells ring, because there is clearly something amiss. We live in a time when tobacco products are plastered with labels saying that they do kill, and do cause lung cancer, not that they might or there is a statistical increase, and now tobacco products will be hidden under the counter because they are so dangerous, and yet pharmaceutical drugs – which are supposedly created for our benefit – are killing us and no warning is given to them.
The next part of this article is about flu shots. Dr Donald Miller, a cardiac surgeon and Professor of Surgery at the University of Washington, says not to get a flu injection but to get ample vitamin D instead. He states that “70% of doctors do not get a flu shot”.
According to Dr. Mercola’s newsletter
“Health officials say that every winter 36,000 people will die from it. But the National Vital Statistics Reports compiled by the CDC show that only 1,138 deaths a year occur due to influenza alone — more than 34,000 of the “36,000″ flu deaths are actually pneumonic and cardiovascular deaths.
There is also a lack of evidence that young children benefit from flu shots. In fact, a systematic review of 51 studies involving 260,000 children age 6 to 23 months found no evidence that the flu vaccine is any more effective than a placebo. But there is also a risk of harm from the flu vaccine itself, particularly from the mercury, aluminum, and formaldehyde it contains.”
Why are we not told at the doctor’s surgery that what they are about to inject in us contains extremely harmful products such as the aforementioned? It is written on cigarette packets, and anti-smoking adverts, that formaldehyde is a very dangerous chemical and yet here are trusted health officials willingly injecting it into children and adults.
There is a growing body of evidence that vitamin D protects against influenza and flu, as well as other ailments. The vitamin plays a crucial role in keeping our immune systems strong and helping us fight off illnesses. Two years ago Dr John Cannell and his colleagues proposed that influenza is actually a symptom of vitamin D deficiency. A recent article on influenza epidemiology that appeared in the Virology Journal validates their claim, with the researchers stating that influenza epidemics result from a dormant disease which become active when there is a deficiency in vitamin D as the immune system weakens.
Why are we not told of this either? Simply because vitamin D is obtained freely from the sun, or in our food and supplements – none of which provides the pharmaceutical industry with any money. Conversely, by hyping up figures and keeping us scared of sunlight and thinking our food cannot protect us we all go running to the doctor’s to line their pockets.
Medicines have their place – toxic chemicals like mercury do not. The evidence is becoming clearer and clearer that there is a great deal of deceit happening, at the public’s expense. Big Pharma is lying to us all to make more money, and it is time people realised there are cheap, natural solutions to many illnesses and not everything requires drugs. When this realisation comes, Big Pharma might just resort back to actually looking out for the public, rather than poisoning them.
